Do you need a domain name?
[ Back ]
A domain name is the public URL used to access your site, such as www.IBRDesign.com.
Do you already have a domain name registered for this site or do you need
us to register one for you? If we register a domain on
your behalf, you will own it even if you move your site to another hosting
service in the future.
Do you need a hosting server?
[ Back ]
A hosting server is the physical computer on which your website application
runs. Several physical computers are required for fault tolerance and
load balancing. Fault tolerance means that if there is a
problem with one server then subsequent requests to your website will
automatically be redirected to a duplicate server which has an exact copy of
all web pages and data. Load balancing means that if your web site
is experiencing heavy traffic then a pool of duplicate servers will be used and
requests to your website will be seamlessly redirected to the least busy server
in the pool.
Do you already have a hosting server for this site or do you need us to
provide this for you? If we provide the hosting
service for you, you will always own the content we create for you even if you
move your site to another hosting service in the future.
How may email accounts do you need?
[ Back ]
If we provide the hosting service for you, you will have the ability to set up
email accounts on your domain name, such as sales@yourdomain.com or info@yourdomain.com.
If you enter into a maintenance agreement with IBR Design,
we will typically reserve webmaster@yourdomain.com so that we could
solicit and address technical issues with the website application.
If you need us to set up email accounts for your domain name you need to
estimate how many unique accounts you need initially.
Unique accounts are those with separate mailboxes. You can
designate any account as a Catch All which can have an unlimited
number of aliases. For example, you can create one account sales@yourdomain.com
and it can also receive email sent to info@yourdomain.com and even
receive email sent to unknown or mispelled accounts on your domain, such as saels@yourdomain.com
Regardless of your initial request, you can always increase or decrease the number of required accounts
in the future.
How much traffic do you anticipate?
[ Back ]
How much traffic do you anticipate in the first year? Website traffic is typically measured in the total amount of data (web pages, downloads, etc.)
accessed in a month. Low Volume is considered to be less than 1,000MB per month, Medium Volume is considered to be less than 4,000MB per
month, and High Volume is considered to be greater than 4,000MB per month. Specifying anticipated traffic is only important
if we are providing the hosting service. If traffic later increases significantly, your website can be updated to accomodate it.
How many forms do you need?
[ Back ]
A form is a collection of input fields, including text entry boxes, check boxes,
radio buttons, and list boxes. Forms typically include a Submit button that causes the entered data to go
to a database, automatically generate an electronic mail, or go to another web service,
such as a credit card service.
Do you require secure data entry (SSL)?
[ Back ]
Normally data entered in form fields on web pages are not considered "secure". That means that a
sophistated computer hacker could see information that is entered. This rarely is problem for most types of
entered data but it is generally considered unacceptable for fields where sensitive information, such as
passwords or credit card numbers, are entered.
To provide secure data entry for fields like passwords or credit cards, a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is required.
(URLs that use SSL are prefaced with HTTPS: instead of HTTP:). If your website will have forms that request sensitive
information then you will require SSL, which we can set up for you.
Do you need automatic email generation?
[ Back ]
Automatic email generation is when an email is generated automatically after a form submission. This could range
from a "Thank you for your request/input" to a "Notification of request to sales@yourdomain.com" or to
an "Update notifications sent to customer/subscriber lists".
Do you need e-Commerce support?
[ Back ]
e-Commerce support is the ability to automatically bill to a customer's credit card.
This can be tied to a form used to bill for a service or to a series of "Shopping Cart" pages
that include shipping support and automated invoices and email receipts.
Do you already have a credit card merchant account?
[ Back ]
e-Commerce support requires an account with a credit card merchant. If you need an account we can help you
set one up with a secure credit card merchant. If you already have a credit card merchant account, please specify
the merchant name.

[ Back ]

If you know of other target browser requirements select Other and provide details in the space provided.
How frequently do you anticipate changes?
[ Back ]
In order for us to estimate monthly maintenance costs you will need to estimate how frequently you will need us to make updates to the content
on your website. Estimate how many trivial Page Change(s) you will need per period of time. Significant page changes
should be counted as a Page Added and non-trivial form changes should be counted as a Form Added.
How will we communicate with you?
[ Back ]
As you report change requests it is possible that we may need to contact you for questions or clarifications. What do you prefer as the communication
vehicle? EMail has historically been the best choice because not only is it free, correspondance can be written and read at either party's convenience.
If you prefer phone calls and don't have a toll-free line, make sure you specify your location so that we can estimate telephone charges.
